Salem AntiWar

Welcome to the website of Salem Antiwar, the collective effort of the antiwar women of Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina! We are a group of women who believe:

Democracy never comes through war. Democracy comes through self-determination. Democracy doesn't come from the top; it comes from the bottom.
No nation can liberate another.
Occupation is a crime.
Military and Defense funding can and should be put to better use, such as funding for jobs and education rather than war and occupation.
The US presence in both Iraq and Afghanistan is not benevolent but imperialistic, and that the policies of the American government will above all else, put profits ahead of justice.
The way to peace is justice.

We have committed to non-violent protest, demonstration, and education. We are women from all areas of the political and ideological spectra. We are Democrats and Republicans, Socialists and Libertarians. Even though some of us agree on nothing else, we agree that these wars--and all wars--must stop now.

We promote solidarity with any group working for justice, equality, and peace.

The academic year is about to get under way. Be prepared to see SAW around the Salem Campus and in the Winston-Salem Community. Everyone is welcome to join!
